Google hangouts on IOS now looks like Messenger, Whatsapp

Google gave its hangout app for IOS a complete overhaul on Thursday - one that will look very familiar to users of other mainstream messaging apps. The new iOS app include tabs along the bottom of the screen with categories like hangouts, favorites , and contacts, similar to other messaging apps like Facebook messenger and Whatsapp.
The new version of hangouts  include the new features present in rival messaging apps such as the ability to send videos, stickers or your location within a conversation. Previously users were allowed to send only photos.The new app is also optimized for Ipad and includes two panes, means you can chat on one side of the screen and on other side of the screen you can scroll you contacts.The older version of hangouts for Ipad had only one screen and no tabs along with them,

Most of these changes , including the location feature is already available for the android users, although the look and feel of both apps is certainly different. Its a major change for hangouts on IOS, and reflects the heightened expectation that mobile users have regarding their  messaging apps. Messaging is the feature of the tech community that in large part of Facebook after acquiring whatsapp for 16 billion. 

Prior to that messaging was still getting a major attention. Last fall Facebook,twitter and instagram all updated new private messaging features.
